House Music

Tonight's StevieMix Alternative Dance Show runs from 9PM-10PM (Friday's) following the Reasonable Alternative show. House music (to paraphrase Wikipedia) is dance music with a prominent bass drum on a 4/4 beat, a heavy electronic synthesizer bass line, electronic effects and occasional samples (pieces of other songs).

The word house comes from a club called the Warehouse in Chicago where this music is said to have started in the late 70's/early 80's although this is disputed. House music is one of the most popular kinds of music played in clubs around the world today.
There are many sub-genre's of house music.  read more »

We will launch with tribal house (very drum centric) followed by Latin house (can contain salsa, Brazilian and/or other Latin beats), and some progressive house (additional sounds/different rhythms/different intensities are layered in and out of the mix). There will be a little non-house, old school in tonights mix just for fun.
Catch the mix tonight at 9!

Musical Pallet

Rainbow universe fractalsThis week's StevieMix Alternative Dance show (Friday 9PM-10PM) will focus on alternative and rock music from a musical pallet including bands like The White Stripes, Green Day, Pink Floyd and more.  Every band has a color in the name. We will hold off announcing the songs until we're near the end of the show-see if you can guess all the bands and call in at 641-209-1083.

Some of the bands will be easy to guess, some more challenging and a couple will be very hard. You'll need to know rock, alternative rock, and metal. Extra bragging rights for knowing every band and song title.

Are you up for the challenge!?
