ICON's Bill Teeple & Allen Cobb
The Art of Community Culture
Local cultural entrepreneur/contractor Chris Johnson talks about his work and vision for Fairfield.
His latest project is turning the defunct Co-Ed Theater into a new non-profit model of local community participation.
The project, known as The Orpheum Theater, its original name, will bring movie magic back to the area.
A steering committee is working on new funding sources and there is much excitement surrounding the project.
Bill Teeple, Donna Colby, and Allen Cobb interview Randy West this week. Randy is the extraordinary Executive and Artistic Director of the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center (http://www.fairfieldacc.com), and he will be talking in depth about the current musical "Godspell." Randy has been involved in musical theatre productions around the country for decades, and is probably responsible in one way or another for more than 3,000 productions of "Godspell."
His current production at the Sondheim Center is an innovative new vision of the show, with music completely reconceived by Justin Hill, the Center's musical director. Performers are from the region, with a few from across the country.
If you thought that "Godspell" is just another musical, you'll be intrigued by Randy's in-depth discussion of this new version. If you've seen "Godspell" before (or perhaps the movie), then you're in for a pleasant surprise.
