Harry and the Potters are an indie wizard rock band from Norwood, Massachusetts who formed in 2002.
The band consists of brothers Joe and Paul DeGeorge. Inspired by the J.K. Rowling book series, the two band members dress and claim to be the book's titular character, Joe being Harry of Year 4, while Paul is Harry of Year 7.
In recognition of the cresting wave of Pottermania--simultaneous book and movie releases!
The Intercranial Whizbang Hour (Monday at 10 PM) will begin with a few tracks from the first two albums by Harry and the Potters, including "Voldemort Can't Stop the Rock" and "Stick It To Dolores (Umbridge)".
Also featured will be tracks from the new album "Sensuous" by Japanese electronic/pop artist Cornelius. Born Keigo Oyamada, Cornelius's musical style is often described as being similar to Beck's, whom he acknowledges as an influence along with The Beatles, The Beach Boys (especially "Pet Sounds") and others. Experimental yet playful and fun.
If time allows we'll also hear selections from a world music supergroup: Mali-born kora (21-stringed lute) master Toumani Diabete, British bass player Danny Thompson and members of the Spanish flamenco group Katemah teamed up in 1988 to create an album called "Songhai". It's a lovely and melodic cultural mix.
