This week we're excited about the inspiring story of the St. Louis Cardinals and
their 9th post season appearance in the last 13..... What? This isn't Sports Talk? KRUU already has a Sports Talk show? Yes, with the inimitable Paul Strubell, son of my handsome friend and fellow (ex) athlete, Kim Strubell. Heard Sunday mornings at 11:00. Great show for sports fans. It's impressive how good Paul's show is, even when he's by himself.
We're the Filmosophers movie talk show! Where "we give our filmosophy of the movies and have filmosophical discussions". There's good news this weekend for Tim Burton fans: Frankenweenie is "an energetic stop-motion horror movie spoof with lovingly crafted visuals and a heartfelt, oddball story." We're excited about the approaching movie awards season. We saw three excellent trailers recently, including one for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln which later inspired me to predict this film will win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Making my annual Best Picture pick in early October? Holy Cow! Oops, another sports talk influence, this time from the great Harry Caray, especially when he called Cardinal games. What can I say? It's fall classic time- both on the baseball diamonds and in the movie theaters. We're the Filmosophers, with the inspiring Chris Busch and southpaw Big B From St. Louie Miller. Fridays at 12:30 PM, again Sunday mornings at 9:00. "The Cardinals win the pennant!! The Cardinals win the pennant!!" - Harry Caray, October 1964, KMOX- The Voice Of St. Louis
I remember that call of Hary's really like it was yesterday, Bruce. I have a letter from him in my memorabilia box in reply to a note I sent him decrying his firing from the booth. Great memories! Thanks.
Sports Talk with Paul does remember saying to you right after the Pujols trade that St. Louis would still be good and make the playoffs. I only bring this up because my MANY other predictions of late have seriously struggled.
