Through African Eyes
Every Sunday Morning KRUU features the Binghimon, thats me, on the Binghimon Revival. An African music show featuring music from all throughtout the worldwide African diaspora including Reggae from Jamaica, Mbaqanga from South Africa, Zouk( French West Indies) and Soukous (Zaire ) to name but a few! I'm always looking for a joyful sound
But I also like to take advantage of the fact that Sunday morning is also a reflective time of the week, so I like to add a little gospel and inspirational conversation. I'd always love to to hear from listeners to compliment the spirit of Thanksgiving and Rememberance of our Creator in considering what God has to say by way of the Holy Scritures.
I spent ten years with an exiled, castigate and forgotten African people here in the Western Hemisphere. A people who sought spiritual resolve to their 400+ years of living on the island of Jamaica in sub-human and impoverished conditions. They turned to the Scriptures for answers. They had been told that they would be Christianized and civilized but were kept as slaves physically, spiritually, socially and economically.
Through having lived a life of prayer, contemplation and service with them I find that their prayers are legitimate and their claims of being of the Lost Tribes of Isreal very credible and worthy of consideration. Here is a voiceless people who were often illiterate, poor and destined to a life of social and economic hardship, and yet they turn to God in daily prayer for intercession of His mercy on their sinful souls.
I left my home family seeking, as men will do, the Truth and all the mysteries of Life. Whether there was a God or a purpose to all things, seeing we are but a season and as grass that withers by day. My journey brought me to another country custom and culture to which I knew nothing of.Just as many did to leave Jamaica to return to Africa. They were seeking a happy condition. They wanted Love in their neighborhood. Just as many did in coming to Fairfield. They wanted Peace. Peace in heart: Peace in the home and Peace on Earth. Such are the journeys that men will do!! "Behold , How good and how pleasant it is for all to dwell together in unity" psalm 133
This is the backbone of the spirit that I bring on the show. Come, let us reason and strenghthen in the Word and consider Him who first loved us! Love it is everyone!
