On the first day of 2010, we thought it fitting to play some of our favorite tunes of the past decade, and reflect back on the 2000's, the zeros, or whatever you want to call it. The past ten years saw more people spending more time online: who would have thought during the Y2K frenzy that we'd soon be downloading pictures, tunes, research data for homework assignments, or even the finished assignment itself, from a cell phone. Speaking of plagiarism, though this was a great decade for the Internet, it was not so good for integrity. Perhaps its fitting that the 2000s, which began with a month long debate as to the accuracy of the US presidential election, ended with Bernie Madoff and various other Ponzi schemers stealing tons of their investors' money. In sports, we saw the best home run hitter, best football team and best golfer caught cheating in various different ways. Tonight Mike and I will play some of the best, honest to goodness, artists to breakthrough this decade, such as Death Cab for Cutie (above left), Feist (above right), Coldplay, The Strokes and much more. Tune in tonight to KRUU from 8 to 9 for A Reasonable Alternative's Best of the Decade show.
