Centripetal Sounds

David Seagull in the studio live, and a bunch of songs from CD's I have purchased since 1/1/07. Actually I have too many to play one song from them all, so I will SELECT tracks that you MUST hear since you are DISCERNING listeners. That drum beat you hear in the background is the sound of your own heart beating to the rhythm of the G Man...;)

Ian Moore Tonight on Saturday Night Live 8pm

Austin, Texas-born singer/songwriter guitar gunslinger Seattle transplant Ian Moore will be the feat ured performer on tonight's installment of Saturday Night Live. Moore recently performed in Fairfield at the Cafe Paradiso with Cullen Fuchs.

To say this guy is gifted is like calling Jesus a Christian. Equally adept at crooning, storytelling or connecting with an audience, Moore is at times riveting, at times self-deprecating, always alert and giving.

Check him out for yourself tonight at 8pm CST.

An interview with Lanky, Moore's opening act, will follow.

The Real History of Rock 'N' Roll From The Daller Family - 1950's to Today

This Saturday we'll have generations of A Fistful of Dallers' music. The first KRUU live feed from Café Paradiso, 8-10pm, (see James' recent post), will feature Adrien Daller singing accompanied by her brother Dain Daller on synthesized tracks, and by me, Doug Daller on piano.

Then my KRUU show, A Fistful of Daller's, 10-12pm, will feature the history of rock 'n' roll in the Daller family. My oldest brother, Bill Daller, will bring in his collection of the first 45 records in the Daller household. This, and AM radio in Detroit, is how my brothers and I got introduced to rock 'n' roll when it first began in the early 1950's.

Cheap Trick & Les Claypool Tonight on Saturday Night Live

Tonight it's a rockin' twofer!! Two live shows for the price of none! Step right up, ladies and gentlepeeps!

First, step into the wayback machine circa 1978 Tokyo and enjoy AT BUDOKAN by Rockford, Illinois band Cheap Trick.

Then join Colonel Les Claypool's Flyin' Frog Brigade for a Live set of vintage Claypoolian madness, mischief and mayhem. If you're a bass person, you're in for more than a tricker treat. It's the slap-happy wack-meister in full regalia sailing the mighty seas
of cheese.

Technology - at its best!

So, if you are (or were) listening to the KRUU broadcast anytime between 5pm and 10pm today (April 6th), you'll have heard the Happy Hour crew, as usual. Except that nothing was "as usual". This time the Central Park Furniture Store (formerly the Futon Shop) hosted the KRUU Live Remote!

Thanks to LISCO , we got ourselves an internet connection at the location on the square to do a live feed. Caleb got a IceCast server up, got it hooked up to send our stream out back to the station, and then spread out on FM and out to the world at kruufm.com.

This is the second time we've done this (first time with our kick-off at the Armory). But this time it's stable :-)

So, if you're listening in, or just browsing, stop by the Futon Store/Central Park on the West side of the Fairfield Square and say "hi". You'll be live on the radio :-)

Catch some fresh-cooked Catfish right out of the stream and enjoy a man who bends strings with impunity and smacks 'em round with crispy clasp Santa claws. It's like popcorn in a riverboat on the 4th of July listenin' to Iowa's own bone-rattlin' son of the Delta slippery slope blues.
