James Moore talks with Professor Mathew Lasar, who teaches US his
tory at the University of California at Santa Cruz. They will discuss Lasar's recent article in Ars Technica titled "NPR's War on Low Power FMs." Lasar has written several books on Pacifica radio, the birth of listener-supported radio, where he worked as a volunteer
reporter in the 80s.
Also, James talks with Free Press communications director Craig Aaron from New York City, whose organization is responsible for the upcoming National Conference on Media Reform in Minneapolis June 6-8 which will feature addresses by Ariana Huffington, Amy Goodman, Bill Moyers, Dan Rathers, Naomi Klein, Juan Gonzales, Lawrence Lessig, amongothers, and is expecting to draw thousands of media activists.
On a more local note, James talks with Coralie Brooks about her work as a director at the Volunteer Center and Margaret Clare, director of the upcoming Generation Now show Tuesday May 6th at the Sondheim Center. read more »
