A Reasonable Alternative
Tonight's episode of A Reasonable Alternative will be a completely unique event, featuring the live music of Fairfield singer/song-writer Matthew Ticciati. I conducted an interview of sorts to find out more about this young man's interests and inspirations, musically and otherwise:
Halley - So Matt, can I call you Matt? Tell me, what kind of music do you write and play?
Ticciati - I write and play a variety of music because I have so many interests. I love salsa, bebop, hip hop, rock, folk, blue grass, funk, flamenco, gypsy swing etc. so I'm trying to integrate everything I love into my own style. It'll probably take me a lifetime.
Halley - Yeah, you'll need a lifetime. I've seen you toting around a guitar - I assume that's for more than just to look cool?
Ticciati - I play an Alvarez that I recently bought from Sharon Bousquet. I know embarrassingly little about guitars.
Halley - That's obvious. So George, can I call you George? Great. How long have you been doing this? read more »
This Friday night "A Reasonable Alternative" welcomes a very special guest to our humble show. Of course we could come right out and tell you who it is, but that's kind of boring, don't you think? It's much more fun to just say that it's someone in the above picture... and here's a hint: It's not the monkey man in the bottom right (he's on the show every other week).
Well, just to keep you from lying awake tonight while you try desperately to guess who it might be, I'll give you another hint: This unfortunate group of people pictured above happen to be my immediate family. They let us out of our cages for the afternoon to pose for some pictures, to be used by anthropologists in an attempt to understand how Cro-Magnon traits could still survive in a modern Homo Sapien family. Me no think they will find out. Me like pudding. read more »
Tonight's edition of "A Reasonable Alternative" will be brought to you by two of Fairfield's kindest and gentlest souls. Yes, I'm talking about Jonathan and myself. I know sometimes we can come off as a little intimidating, but in truth we're gentlemen through and through.
Our playlist (really my playlist, but I try to make Jonathan feel included) consists of some lovey-dovey stuff (for Jon), a couple of rocking songs heavy on distortion (for my mom), and my token cheesy 80's song of the night (for the rest of you). There is something to please everyone and everyone will be pleased... somehow.
And of course you can count on the occasional intelligent conversation you've come to expect from ARA. (By "occasional" I mean that we only occasionally talk, not that our conversation is occasionally intelligent, though some may beg to differ. Beg all you want.) read more »
Tonight on "A Reasonable Alternative" I, Michael Halley, will be bringing you an hour of
mellow, upbeat music that will get you feeling cool and chill (both at the same time). Don't worry, I won't let you freeze on a cold February night - I've got some stuff that will get you up off your butt and dancing around like you just don't care. The FCC doesn't mind if I say "butt", does it?
The best thing about being part of a show deemed "eclectic" is that I can play pretty much anything I want. The power is intoxicating!!!
All dramatics aside, this week's show is sure to lift your spirits and leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Cool and chill, warm and fuzzy, eclectic, intoxicated, and just plain good. Tune in from 8:00 - 9:00.
It's the most wonderful time of the year! When music is playing and Michael is saying, "Now listen to this!" It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!
By the Grace of God I have found myself in charge of the most important show of the whole year, and I plan to deliver so much Christmas cheer in the course of an hour that you'll need to drink a whole gallon of eggnog to recover.
What I mean to say is that show founder and head honcho Matt "I'm Too Cool to Stay in Fairfield for Christmas" Mullenneaux has vacated the premises, having packed up the family and headed down to sunny Florida (or rainy Florida, depending on your luck). While he's living it up on the beach with his extended family, I'll be drudging through wind, slush, and ice to dutifully bring you what you want, and do not doubt for a moment that I know exactly what you want. read more »
